MALIBU, Calif. - Ryan Weisenberg has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Pepperdine women's basketball team, the University announced today. He will remain available to assist the Director of Athletics with special projects.
"While we believe that a change in leadership is necessary, I do want to thank Ryan for his dedication and commitment to our women's basketball program for the last four years as head coach," said Pepperdine Director of Athletics Dr. Steve Potts. "A search for our new head coach has begun and I am excited for the future of this program."
The Waves concluded the 2016-17 season last week with a 7-23 record and an eighth-place finish in the West Coast Conference at 5-13. Weisenberg's four-year record as head coach was 28-94.
