
Waves Will Host Cal State Fullerton in NCAA First Round

MALIBU, California " The No. 12 Pepperdine women's soccer team has been awarded a first-round home match in the 2017 NCAA Tournament and the Waves will take on Cal State Fullerton this Saturday, as the 64-team field was announced today.
The WCC-champion Waves (14-2-3) will square off against the Big West-champion Titans (12-5-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
"Congrats to (Demian) Brown and Cal State Fullerton, they are a very, very good program," Pepperdine Coach Tim Ward said. "He consistently does a great job. We know it's going to be an awesome game, a tough game. Getting to this point in the postseason is what it's all about. Everybody is here because they're good enough."
Tickets will cost $10 for adults and $8 for students. Pepperdine students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with their Pepperdine ID. Tickets will only be sold at the gate.
Pepperdine is making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance overall and its fifth in the last seven years. The Waves' furthest run has been to the Sweet 16 three times (2002, 2005, 2014). This will be Pepperdine's fifth home tournament game, all of which have come in the first round.
Pepperdine is 7-0-1 in home games this season and has yet to allow a goal in 740 minutes of play at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
Pepperdine won the WCC with an 8-0-1 record and outscored opponents 29-1 in league play. The Waves are unbeaten in their last 13 games.
The winner of the Pepperdine-Cal State Fullerton match will face either third-seeded Virginia or St. Francis (PA) in the second round, possibly at second-seeded UCLA.
Santa Clara was the other WCC team to make the field.
