
Waves Prepare for GCC Tournament

MALIBU, Calif. - This Week: The No. 10 Pepperdine men's water polo team travels to Irvine, Calif. for the Golden Coast Conference Tournament. They will take on San Jose State in the first round on Friday at 7:30 p.m. If the team wins, they will take on the No. 1 seed, Pacific on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Waves are the number 5 seed in the tournament.
Game #30: Friday (Nov. 10) vs. No. 11 San Jose State (13-13, 1-4 GCC) at Anteater Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif.

Golden Coast Conference: Last year, the Waves ended the regular season in fourth place, before sweeping through the conference tournament and capturing the title.
GCC Awards: Five Waves were honored in the GCC awards: Mark Urban (1st team), Zack Rhodes (2nd team), Marko Asic (2nd team), Mate Toth (Honorable Mention), Coleman Carpenter (All-Freshman team).
Series vs. San Jose State: PEPP 12-3 - The Waves and Spartans have met just 15 times, with the last coming earlier this year during GCC play, which the Waves won, 9-8. The two teams also played in the Aggie Roundup, with the Waves coming out on top, 10-4.
Rhodes: Senior goalkeeper Zack Rhodes became the first Wave in history to surpass 1,000 career saves on Oct. 14 against Long Beach State. He currently has 1,068 career saves.
Schroeder: Head coach Terry Schroeder won his 400th career game on Oct. 13 against Long Beach State. Schroeder is in his 25th year of coaching at Pepperdine. His first stint of coaching was from 1986-2005, after which he took an eight-year break to coach the United States National Team.
Last Week: The Waves lost in double overtime to UC Santa Barbara last week, dropping them to a 17-12 record, and 2-3 in the GCC.
GCC Player of the Week: Zack Rhodes was awarded co-GCC Player of the Week for Oct. 19 after a 17-save outing against Long Beach State. Rhodes is the second Wave to win the award this year, joining Sam Paur (9/14).
