With an even 2-2 tie the match was any teams to be had, and each side came out strong, seeing tied scores en route to the 11-11 mark. The opposition had the momentum swing, though, and finished the match off with a 15-11 final score for the 3-2 WCC victory.

After tied scores through the 13-13 mark, the Waves broke away en route to a 18-14 lead courtesy of kills from Gross and an ace from Sato. With mores smashes from Gross and help from Frohling, the Waves were in set-point territory at the 24-18 mark. With Frohling at ther service line, the Waves were confident and the outside hitter found the floor for her first ace of the match to put Pepperdine up 1-0 on the day.

In the second set, each team worked to an 8-8 tie, but the opposition pulled ahead on an attack effort. Eventually, the Broncos tied the match with a 25-18 set win.

The third set was a battle throughout, with a 7-7 tied score early. The Waves extended a small lead with a block from Grace Nielsen and Harris, but the Broncos came back late to tie things up at 19's. After the opposition went up 23-20, the Waves buckled down and a forced attack error and back-to-back kills from Gross in the middle tied the set. After a smash from Frohling to gain a fourth and final set-point opportunity, Dyer strategically placed a solid serve for an ace and the 28-26 set win.

With a 2-1 lead heading into the third set, the Waves looked to close and the Broncos looked to come back. After an 11-11 tie late in the set, the opposition went ahead by two-points. Late in the action, the Waves attempted to close the gap, but were unable to stop the second set-point option as SCU took a 26-24 win to tie the match and send it to the fifth.
