WCC ALL-ACADEMIC RELEASE | NCAA TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The third-ranked Pepperdine beach volleyball team had three Waves tabbed to West Coast Conference All-Academic teams, as announced by the conference office this Wednesday morning. Senior Samantha Cash and junior Delaney Knudsen earned first team honors while sophomore Corinne Quiggle received honorable mention recognition.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
After heading to graduate school this year to earn a Master of Arts in Learning Technologies, Cash (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy) has amassed a sterling 4.0 this season. On the court, she and junior partner Sarah Seiber (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS/Arizona) have held strong in the number five position for the Waves, earning a 20-2 overall record this season.
Junior Delaney Knudsen (Valencia, Calif./Valencia HS) also garnered first team honors after putting up a 3.777 grade point average in Business Administration. She earned All-WCC first team acclaim on the athletic side, along with freshman partner Kaity Bailey (Ojai, Calif./Villanova Preparatory School) after posting a 17-5 record while competing in the number two slot for the team.
Sophomore Corinne Quiggle (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra HS) was the third and final Wave to earn academic honors with the honorable mention nod after earning a 3.289 grade point average while studying Pre-Business Administration. She, along with freshman Skylar Caputo (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) went 19-3 overall this season, with an 18-3 record from the number three position and one win in the four slot for Pepperdine.
The Waves open the inaugural NCAA Championships tomorrow (May 6) against sixth-seeded Arizona at 10 a.m. (PT). Find the live stream for the match on NCAA.com. Follow @WavesBeachVB for updates and check on PepperdineSports.com for full results, recaps and more!
