April 27, 2016 MALIBU, Calif. " Alessandra Arza and Katherine Zhu of the Pepperdine women's golf team were both named to the West Coast Conference's All-Academic first team today.
To qualify, student-athletes must have at least sophomore standing, have a 3.2 grade-point average or greater and participate in at least 50 percent of the season's events.
Arza (Asuncion, Paraguay), a junior liberal arts major, is making her second straight appearance on the first team. She also earned WGCA All-American Scholar status as a freshman and sophomore. Arza appeared in five tournaments this season, posting a scoring average of 79.87. She tied for 38th at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.), a sophomore international studies major, earned her first WCC academic award. She picked up WGCA All-American Scholar honors as a freshman. Zhu competed at eight tournaments this season and had a scoring average of 78.09. She tied for 32nd at the Bay Area Intercollegiate.
The Pepperdine women's golf team's season will continue at the NCAA Stanford Regional, which will be held next week (May 5-7).
