April 14, 2016

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine women's basketball assistant coach Lacey Burns has accepted the head coaching job at Division II Concordia University in Irvine and will be leaving the Waves' program.

Burns served as an assistant coach with the Waves this past season, helping to guide the team to an appearance in the West Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

"We have been very blessed to have Lacey with us this past year and our program will greatly miss her," said Pepperdine Head Coach Ryan Weisenberg. "At the same time, we are excited to see her take this next step in her career and I know she will do a tremendous job at Concordia, just as she did here."

Burns came to Pepperdine with both prep and collegiate coaching experience, as well as an accomplished playing resume. Burns served as the head women's coach at her alma mater, San Clemente High School, prior to coming to Pepperdine and previously was an assistant at Vanguard and Cal Poly Pomona. She was a standout player at Vanguard during her collegiate playing career.

Burns earned a graduate degree from Concordia in 2011. The Eagles program recently transitioned to NCAA Division II competition, completing their first year in the PacWest Conference this past season.
