No. 1 Beach Volleyball Remains Undefeated at COC Beach Invitational

2016 SEASON STATS AND RESULTS
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - The No. 1-ranked Pepperdine beach volleyball team remained undefeated this Sunday morning in the College of Charleston Beach Invitational after dropping the team's fifth and final competition, UNC Wilmington by a 5-0 margin at the Creekside Tennis & Swim Club.
The win over UNCW (3-7) was the Waves ninth overall, earning the team a perfect 9-0 record to start the 2016 campaign. Of the five matches this weekend, the last four consecutive wins with 5-0 sweeps. In dual play, the Waves boast a .911 win-loss percentage on a 41-4 overall performance this season.
Two Pepperdine pairs are still undefeated at 9-0 this season, senior Samantha Cash (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy) and junior Sarah Seiber (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS/Arizona) and freshmen pair Madalyn Roh (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS) and Anika Wilson (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos HS) have won their last nine straight competitions.
Today, Cash and Seiber once again held down court number five for the Waves, defeating UNCW's Anna Moss and Sydney Alvis by outstanding 21-4 and 2-10 results. On court four, Roh and Wilson crushed Sarah Kelly and Halle Hunt with a 21-7, 21-9 final decision.
The Waves' one and three duos boast an 8-1 record this 2016 campaign.
Senior Taylor Racich (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos HS) and freshman Heidi Dyer (San Clemente, Calif./Saddleback Valley Christian HS) succeeded on court one this morning, besting Bella Borgiotti and Katie McCullough with a 21-12, 21-11 final score for the duo's seventh consecutive win.
Sophomore Corinne Quiggle (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra HS) and freshman Skylar Caputo (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) won on court three as well, with a 21-16 and 21-11 defeat of Maddy Kline and Ashleigh Crutcher.
Closing out the lineup on court two, junior Delaney Knudsen (Valencia, Calif./Valencia HS) and freshman Kaity Bailey (Ojai, Calif./Villanova Preparatory School) put up a 21-12 and 21-9 final mark over Kristin Powell and Nicole Lott to advance the pair's record to 7-2 this season.
In an extra sixth match, junior Leanna Schroeder (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian HS) and freshman Nikki Lyons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) won their fifth match of the season with a 21-19, 21-17 win over Alyssa Desjardins and Bethany Gesell to advance their record to a perfect 5-0.
