Erica Ogwumike Named To All-WCC First Team

MALIBU, Calif. - The West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Postseason Awards were announced on Tuesday and Pepperdine women's basketball standout freshman Erica Ogwumike earned All-WCC first team honors. Ogwumike was also named to the conference's All-Freshman Team.

Pepperdine's rookie phenom was the only freshman to earn first-team honors and is the first Wave to do so since 2012.

Ogwumike led the team and was second in the WCC with 18.4 points per game. Here 18.4 points per contest were also the fifth best average on any freshman in the country this season. Ogwumike also led Pepperdine with 7.5 rebounds per game and 1.9 steals per contest.

She posted 13 20-point games this season and had a team-high seven double-doubles. Ogwumike scored a season-high 34 points at Portland and posted 30 points in an upset win over second-place Saint Mary's late in the season.

Jazmine Jackson was the last Wave to earn first-team honors back in 2012. Ogwumike is the third straight Wave to make the All-Freshman squad.
