MALIBI, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team dropped its series finale to No. 4 Texas A&M on Sunday, falling 4-0 to the Aggies.

The Pepperdine pitching settled in after a rough first inning, but the Waves never got their offense on track. Pepperdine falls to 3-4 on the year, while Texas A&M moves to 7-1.

The Aggies got homers from J.B. Moss and Hunter Melton in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Moss hit a two run shot as the second batter of the game and Melton hit a solo home run. Melton's would have been a two-run homer had Chandler Blanchard (Henderson, Nev./Coronado HS) not picked a runner off first immediately before the long ball.

Blanchard settled in after the rough start, getting out of the inning with a popup and strikeout. He then tossed 4.1 scoreless innings before giving way to Ryan Wilson (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS). Blanchard finished with 5.1 innings pitched, eight hits, three earned runs, five strikeouts and one walk.

Wilson worked the next 2.2 innings, entering the game with runners on first and third and one out in the sixth. The Waves' lefty struck the next two batters out to end the threat and keep Pepperdine within three. Wilson gave up one hit in the next two innings and finished with three strikeouts and no walks. Max Green (Rolling Hills Estate, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula HS) tossed the ninth, giving up one run.

The Waves were held hitless through the first three frames, but Aaron Barnett (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley HS) broke up the no-hitter with a leadoff double in the fourth. A bunt single by Brandon Caruso (Pasadena, Calif./Loyola HS) gave the Waves runners on the corners with two outs, but Texas A&M got a strikeout to end the inning.

Pepperdine got runners on first in the next two innings, but could never mount a comeback. The Waves finished with three hits on the day, with Jordan Qsar (El Cajon, Calif./Valhalla HS) singling in the sixth.

Tyler Ivey got the win for the visitors, striking out eight and walking two in 6.0 innings of work. Jace Vines tossed the final three innings to pick up the save. Boomer White and Melton each had three hits for the Aggies.

The series started with the Waves getting a 7-5 victory to snap Texas A&M's 35-game regular-season non-conference winning streak, but the Aggies came back to win the next two.

The Waves will be back in action on Tuesday, when they hit the road for their first away game of the season, taking on Cal Poly in a 6 p.m. contest in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
