Feb. 19, 2016 WCC RELEASE
MALIBU, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced its 2016 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team on Friday and three Pepperdine women's basketball players earned honorable mention.
Olivia Ogwumike, Devin Stanback and Krista Pettepier were all named to the WCC's academic list for their success both on the court and in the classroom.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
Pettepier (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny HS/Pittsburgh), a redshirt junior forward, owns the highest GPA of all three of the Waves nominated, compiling a 3.70 cumulative GPA during her time in Malibu. Pettepier is a sociology major and had appeared in 24 games so far this season for Pepperdine.
Ogwumike (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods HS) is a sophomore psychology major who owns a 3.54 GPA currently. Ogwumike is the Waves second-leading scorer, averaging 9.3 points per contest over her 16 games played. She is also pulling down 4.3 rebounds per game.
Stanback (West Hills, Calif./Chaminade HS) is a sophomore liberal arts major with a 3.363 cumulative GPA. Stanback is averaging 4.6 points per game after putting up a season-high 16 points last night. She has played in all 27 games for Pepperdine.
