
Beach Volleyball to Host USC, UCLA and Arizona on Saturday

MALIBU, Calif. - With the 2017 season quickly approaching, the Pepperdine beach volleyball team will be hosting a round-robin series of exhibition matches this Saturday, October 15 at Zuma Beach beginning at 9 a.m. The Waves have invited USC, UCLA and Arizona to compete in the fall friendly tournament.
The matches will be in typical dual format with five courts on during the match. Additionally, three extra courts will be in action throughout the matches.
The schedule is as follows:
9 a.m. - Pepperdine vs. Arizona
10 a.m. - UCLA vs. USC
11 a.m. - Pepperdine vs. UCLA
12 p.m. - USC vs. Arizona
1 p.m. - Pepperdine vs. USC
2 p.m. - Arizona vs. UCLA
In the 2016 campaign, the Waves finished 5th at the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. Pepperdine was ranked No. 1 through six weeks of competition, and garnered the inaugural West Coast Conference title after winning three consecutive matches in Santa Monica, Calif.
The Waves return 13 players, eight of which played in every dual match last season. Pepperdine also brings in six newcomers, including three freshman and three graduate student transfers.
USC finished 2016 as the first-ever NCAA National Champions, UCLA finished 3rd in the tournament and final AVCA Coaches Poll and Arizona closed up the season in the No. 6-spot.
