MALIBU, Calif. - Recent Pepperdine alum Kelley Larsen will be competing at the Pan American Games starting next week as one of four athletes representing the United States in beach volleyball.
Larsen will be competing alongside LMU grad Betsi Metter to represent the U.S. as the women's pair at the games. Larsen and Metter finished third at the NORCECA qualifier leading up to the games, upending the No. 1 and 3 seeds to reach the third-place match.
The pair will begin competition on July 13 when they take on El Salvador. The duo faces Guatemala on July 15 and Colombia on July 16 before bracket play begins on July 17. Beach competition wraps up on July 21 with the medal matches.
It is Larsen and Metter's first time competing at the Pan Am games, though the team has seen action together in both international and AVP competition.
Larsen graduated from Pepperdine in 2015, leaving as the Waves' all-time wins leader after four seasons on the beach, amassing a 101-20 record. She was named an AVCA Sand Volleyball All-American in 2014 and 2015, helping the Waves to titles in both 2012 and 2014. Larsen also played three seasons of indoor volleyball while in Malibu.
