LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's basketball team dropped it's regular-season finale at Loyola Marymount on Saturday, falling 74-57 to the Lions.

The Waves couldn't overcome a cold shooting performance in the first half and two LMU players putting up 21-point games.

The Waves fell behind by double-digits early, but went on a 10-0 run midway through the first half to cut it to a two-point game at 16-14. Pepperdine went ice cold from there, going scoreless for the final 9:31 of the half to enter the break down 32-14.

The Waves shot just 19.4 percent in the opening period, but did hold LMU to 37.9 percent shooting in the first half as well. Pepperdine got to the line just twice in the half, while the home team was 9-for-12 at the charity stripe.

It proved to be too big of a deficit for the Waves to come back from as the closest they would come was within 12 late in the second half. Pepperdine cut it to a 67-55 LMU lead on two Allie Green (Sacramento, Calif./Sacramento HS) free throws with 2:49 to play, but the Lions scored the next seven points to seal the win.

The Waves did shoot 50 percent in the second half and made 15-of-17 free throws, but went 0-for-5 from 3-point territory. Pepperdine was just 1-for-10 from downtown. LMU finished the game shooting 43.3 percent and had a 32-26 points in the paint advantage.

Green finished the day with a team-high 17 points and Ea Shoushtari (Los Angeles, Calif./L.A.C.E.S.) finished with 13 points. Shoushtari also added a team-best nine rebounds and five assists.

Emily Ben-Jumbo and Sophie Taylor each scored 21 points for LMU and Taylor added 15 rebounds to record the double-double.

The Waves finish the regular-season 8-21 overall and 3-15 WCC, while LMU closes 6-23, 4-14 WCC. The two teams will open postseason play at the WCC tournament next week with a rematch as the eighth (LMU) and ninth (Pepperdine) seeds in the conference. That game will be held in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena on March 5 at noon. Check back in with PepperdineSports.com for more details.
