MALIBU, Calif. - Recently graduated Pepperdine women's basketball players Ea Shoushtari and Bria Richardson both signed professional contracts to play in Europe this week.
Shoushtari signed on to play with BBC Sparta Bertrange in the Luxembourg Total League and Richardson signed with ASC Mainz in the German Bundesliga.
Richardson played four years in Malibu and despite two injury shortened seasons, finished with a career average of 11.4 points per game. Richardson became a consistent threat on the offensive end, leading the team in scoring each of her last two seasons, with 16.9 points per game in 2013-14 and 14.8 points per game in 2015-16.
Richardson played in a total of 71 games for Pepperdine, earning WCC All-Academic first team honors each of her last two seasons. Richardson also had a career average of 1.99 steals per game and dished out a total of 173 assists for the Waves.
ASC Mainz plays in the second division in Germany and is one of 23 teams in the league.
Shoushtari played for the Waves from 2012-15 as well, competing in 115 games and making 82 starts over the course of her collegiate career. She finished eighth on the Pepperdine career three-pointers made list, with 127 triples during her four years in Malibu.
BBC Sparta Bertrange is one of nine teams in the Total League and Shoushtari is one of two Americans on the squad.
Shoushtari averaged 7.4 points per game for her career and had a 31.4 three-point field goal percentage in college. She had her best statistical season as a Wave in 2013-14, when she averaged 12.0 points per game and led the team with 6.7 rebounds per contest. Her 59 threes made in 2013-14 were the fourth highest single-season total in program history.
