PERFECT GAME ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS
June 17, 2014
MALIBU, Calif. - Aaron Brown picked up yet another All-American honor this week as he was named to Perfect Game's second team as a utility player.
Brown becomes the first Pepperdine player named a Perfect Game All-American since Joe Sever picked up honorable mention honors in 2012. Sever is the only other Wave named a Perfect Game All-American.
The junior lefty is one of 16 players named to the second team and is the lone utility player after excelling as both a starting pitcher and centerfielder for the Waves this season.
Putting up one of the most remarkable seasons in Pepperdine history, Brown went 13-1 on the mound, with a 1.95 ERA and 104 strikeouts. He also hit .314 at the plate, with 13 home runs and 49 RBI. He helped lead the Waves to their first ever NCAA Super Regional appearance since the round was instituted in 1999 and its first Regional win since 1992, going 3-0 in the postseason with a 0.39 ERA in 23.0 innings pitched.
Brown limited hitters to just a .212 average in 115.2 innings pitched this season, giving up just 40 walks and a total of 25 earned runs. He also posted 29 extra-base hits on the season, recording 13 doubles and three triples to go along with his 13 homers. Brown slugged .554 for the year, scoring 44 runs and stealing five bases.
He was named WCC Pitcher of the Year, WCC Tournament MVP and Regional MVP for his efforts this season, and has also already garnered NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball All-American honors. Brown is still up for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award as one of three national finalists as well.
