MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine got a quality start and a home run from Aaron Brown and dispatched Washington 4-1 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium. The Waves (18-12) collect their fifth series win of the season at the expense of the Huskies (8-21).

Brown (Chatsworth, Calif./Chatsworth HS) posted his first quality start of the season, going 6.2 innings, allowing one unearned run off six hits and struck out three and walked four to collect his third consecutive win in as many starts. The Preseason All-American helped his own cause, belting his first home run of the season to get the Waves on the board with two away in the second.

Pepperdine boosted its lead to 2-0 in the fourth. Kolten Yamaguchi (Kona, Hawaii/Konawaena HS) led off with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice and scored on a single by Ranny Lowe (Granada Hills, Calif./Notre Dame HS).

Washington scored its lone run in the seventh inning, unearned after Ty Afenir walked, advanced to second on passed ball, to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Jayce Ray. The run snapped Washington's scoreless streak against the Waves at 18.0 innings.

Austin Davidson (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS) answered back with a two-run blast to right center field in the home half of the seventh for a 4-1 advantage. It was the fourth home run of the year for Davidson.

Michael Swanner (Cardiff, Calif./Serra HS) collected his WCC-leading eighth save of the year, tossing a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit. Eric Karch (Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS) bridged the gap, going 1.1 innings without surrendering a hit and struck out one Husky.

Drew Hacker (Moorpark, Calif./Oaks Christian HS) paced the Waves offensively, going 3-for-3 and was hit by a pitch with a run scored. Lowe finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Pepperdine wraps up its four-game homestand when it welcomes UC Santa Barbara to Malibu Tuesday, April 9. First pitch against the Gauchos is set for 3:00 p.m. from Eddy D. Field Stadium in a contest featuring live streaming video via WaveCasts.

NOTES: Six of Pepperdine's nine hits came from the bottom of the order … Waves improve to 4-1 all-time against Washington and improve to 3-1 against the Pac-12 this season … The finale against the Huskies was the sixth multi-homer game turned in by Pepperdine this season … Davidson's home run was the 20th by the Waves this season in game No. 30. Last year Pepperdine clubbed 24 in 59 games.
