WACO, Texas - After pulling off two comeback wins in the state of Texas, Pepperdine could not make it three as Baylor erased a four run deficit for a 5-4 walk-off win Tuesday night at Baylor Ballpark. The Waves (6-3) managed just three hits in their first ever meeting against the Bears (3-5).

All runs scored with two outs, including the bottom of the ninth. After back-to-back hit batsmen to open the bottom of the frame, Eric Karch (Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS) got a strikeout and a popup. Adam Toth laced a two-run single to left center for the victory. It was the first loss of the season for Karch (3-1), who collected two wins in relief at Texas A&M on Friday and Sunday.

Bryan Langlois (Oak Park, Calif./Oak Park HS) powered a double off the centerfield wall to open the second and collected the only extra base hit for the Waves.

Pepperdine got on the board with a two-out rally in the fourth. Langlois earned a one-out walk in the fourth, advanced to second on a throwing error and scored on an RBI double from Cody Nulph (Orange, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS). After a strikeout, James Grandpre (Lancaster, Calif./Desert Christian HS) singled down the leftfield line, driving in Nulph.

Joe Kirkland came on for the Bears with two outs in the fourth for Sterling Wynn. Kirkland was wobbly and the Waves capitalized. Grandpre advanced to second on a wild pitch and Pepperdine had runners at second and third after Ranny Lowe (Granada Hills, Calif./Notre Dame HS) walked, followed by a passed ball. Austin Davidson (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS) walked to load the bases and Sam Meyer (Los Altos, Calif./St. Francis HS) drew another walk to drive in Lowe for a 4-0 advantage.

Baylor got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single by Toth, who finished 3-for-5 with two RBI. The Bears took advantage of Pepperdine miscues in the seventh for two runs with two outs in the frame. After a walk, passed ball and a hit batsmen, Cal Towey delivered a two-run single to make the score 4-3 Pepperdine. Karch came on in relief of Mat Snider (Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos HS) and struck out Brett Doe to end the threat with runners at second and third.

Matt Maurer (Medford, Ore./North Medford HS) tossed 6.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and struck out five, but did not factor in the decision. Wynn went 3.2 innings, allowing three runs with three strikeouts.

Pepperdine returns to action when it opens up a three-game weekend series at No. 10 Oklahoma. First pitch of game one against the Sooners is set for Friday, March 1 at 1:05 p.m. (PT) at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
