Waves Baseball Schedule Released

Nov. 15, 2013

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball schedule was released this week and will feature a trip to Hawaii and an appearance in the Dodgertown classic, along with the full complement of WCC play.

The Waves open the season with a three-game home set beginning Feb. 14 at Eddy D. Field Stadium against St. John's and also host Utah Valley for another three-game matchup (Feb. 21-23). Pepperdine finishes out the month of February with a four game series at Hawaii (Feb. 26-March 1).

Eight of the team's opening games in the month of February will be at home including an exhibition against Keio University of Japan (Feb. 19).

"This is going to be a great and challenging schedule for us this year and we will get tested right away," said head coach Steve Rodriguez, who begins his 11th season at the helm for the Waves. "St. John's is a great team and we will need to be ready from the first pitch. Our other non-conference series against Utah Valley, playing at Hawaii and then returning for the Dodgertown Classic to play at USC, at UCLA and against Houston will be challenging as well and will get us ready for conference play."

The Dodgertown Classic kicks off March 7 as the Waves head to UCLA and then USC (March 8) before facing Houston at Dodger Stadium on March 9.

WCC play opens up March 14 as the Waves host Pacific for a three-game series. Pepperdine closes the regular season with a trio of games at defending conference champion Gonzaga.

"Our conference will be tough as always, but our team has shown us some great things this fall and we are very excited about the challenge we have coming up this season," said Rodriguez

The Waves' also have non-conference home and away matchups scheduled against UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, UC Irvine and Long Beach State.

Postseason play opens up with the WCC Championship May 22-24 in Stockton, Calif., followed by NCAA play. The NCAA Regional begins May 30, with Super Regional action June 5-8 and the College World Series June 14-25.

Pepperdine heads to Taiwan this month to compete in the Formosa Cup over the Thanksgiving weekend.
