Pair of Pepperdine Pitchers Named Top Summer League Prospects

MALIBU, Calif. - Junior right-hander Jared Lee was named a top prospect of the Alaska League after a standout summer season with the Anchorage Bucs while sophomore Michael Swanner was tabbed a top player to watch in the Midwest Prospect League by Perfect Game USA Scouting Service.
Lee (Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS/UNLV) was picked as the 11th best prospect out of the Alaska League. The 6-ft. 10-in. righty was virtually unhittable at the start of the Alaska season. He went 1-0 with a 1.56 ERA and 16 strikeouts to only three walks in 17.0 innings pitched.
In his first season with the Waves after transferring, Lee appeared in 14 games with a 2-2 record and 24 strikeouts in 33.2 innings pitched.
Swanner (Cardiff, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS) was named the 11th best prospect out of the Midwest Prospect League from 35 players identified by Perfect Game. The sophomore was a Western Division All-Star selection for the Danville (Ill.) Dans, appearing in 14 games, throwing 17.0 innings, with 18 strikeouts to only five walks. His 0.53 ERA was the second-lowest on the squad for pitchers with more than 15.0 innings of work. Swanner also had nine saves to lead the team.
As a rookie for the Waves in 2011, Swanner appeared out of the bullpen 21 times, collecting 14 strikeouts in 27.1 innings pitched.
