MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's and women's track and field teams will participate in this Saturday's Cal Poly Invitational at the school's track and field complex located in San Luis Obispo.
Field events begin at 11 a.m. with the first track event scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
Pepperdine will be represented in 16 events featuring 31 of its athletes. Brittany Clark (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS), Amanda Ajdari (Valencia, Calif./Hart HS) and Bridgette Walker (Oak Harbor, Wash./Oak Harbor HS) were the only Waves to compete last weekend at the Cal-Nevada Championships.
Coach Robert Radnoti is excited about the prospects of this upcoming meet for his full squad.
"We are looking forward to going back to San Luis Obispo for our second year," Radnoti said. "The competition is good for our team with Cal Poly having a top distance oriented team. Our workouts over the past month have been outstanding and I anticipate 'PR's' (personal records) for many on the team."
Clark and Ajdari each ran exceptional times at the Cal-Nevada Championships, posting scores good enough to be considered school-records but both sprints in the 100-meters were wind-aided. Clark recorded a (3.0) wind-aided time of 12.33 seconds and Ajdari registered a mark of 12.42. The wind for her heat was measured at 2.4 meters per second.
Ajdari remains the school-record holder in the 100m dash with a time of 12.47, which she logged as a freshman at the 2008 Trojan Invitational. Both women are slated to run the 100m dash this Saturday.
Summer Enalen (100m hurdles - 15.84), Walker (400m- 57.63) and the women's 4x100m relay team (Walker, Natasha Hamlin, Clark, Ajdari- 49.12) will look to improve upon the school-records they have set earlier this season.
Keep an eye out for Lauren Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton HS) as she competes in her first 1500m run this season. Lodge is the best long-distance runner for the Waves and she will make an effort to break the school-record of 4:39.35 held by Chelsea Wishard (Lawai, Hawai'i/Kauai HS).
Jordan Wozniak (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge HS) will attempt to break his quest of four minutes in the men's 1500m run. His personal best this season is 4:06.20 at the UC Irvine Invitational. Teammate Seth Allison (Canyon, Texas/Canyon HS) will make his season debut in the 800m run.
Schools competing include Pepperdine, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara, CSU Bakersfield and Fresno State.
