MALIBU, Calif. - Three members of the Pepperdine women's track team will partake in the prestigious Cal-Nevada Championships Saturday and Sunday at the Burns Track and Field Complex in Claremont.
The event is hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and will bring together 36 schools located throughout California and Nevada. CMS is the first Division III host for the championship, which is the only meet held in either state which offers scored competition between all three NCAA Divisions as well as NAIA schools.
Pepperdine will be represented by senior sprinters Amanda Ajdari (Valencia, Calif./Hart HS) in the 100-meter dash, Brittany Clark (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS) in the 100m and 200m and Bridgette Walker (Oak Harbor, Wash./Oak Harbor HS) in the 400m.
Walker is the Waves' highest seeded student-athlete at No. 14; however it will take a ninth-place finish or better in Saturday's preliminaries to qualify her or her teammates for Sunday's finals.
Ajdari is the school record holder in the 100m with a time of 12:47, and her season best through four meets in 2011 stands at 12.63.
Clark has been the Waves' fastest runner so far this year in both sprints, clocking a 12:49 in the 100m and a 26.08 at last weekend's UC Irvine Invitational. Ajdari also holds the varsity record in the 200m (25.56) that Clark is seeking to break.
Walker has continually posted some of the program's fastest times in the 400m since 2008, and just last weekend at UCI, she broke her own varsity record in this event with a time of 57.63.
Field events begin at 1 p.m. followed by running events at 2 p.m.
