MALIBU, Calif.- The Pepperdine men's and women's track and field teams will compete all day Saturday at UC Irvine's Spring Break Collegiate Invitational. The annual meet held at Anteater Stadium features teams from across the nation, including Cornell University and the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Field events begin at 10 a.m. with the first track event scheduled for 3 p.m.
The men's team, which did not compete last weekend at Northridge, will be represented by four runners in the 1500m and have an entry in the 4x400m relay.
Pepperdine's women's team will have entrants competing in each race from the 100m to the 3K, plus hurdles and the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Senior Aneka Myles (Victorville, Calif./Silverado), the school's record holder in the shot put and discus, will attempt to break her marks in those events as well.
Junior Lauren Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton HS) is the Waves' highest seeded runner and is one of 19 runners listed in the first flight of the 1500m. Lodge is competing in this race for the first time in 2011 and will be looking to break senior Chelsea Wishard's (Lawai, Hawa'i/Kauai HS) varsity record of 4:39.35, which was set at last March's Cal/Nevada Championships.
