CLOVIS, Calif. - Pepperdine's women's swimming and diving team placed second among 14 teams at the Pacific Coast Swimming Conference (PCSC) Pentathlon, which took place this past Saturday at the Clovis West High School Swim Complex.

The Waves broke three meet records and established eight new personal standards, many of which were registered by pentathlon runner-ups sophomore Madison Krall (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Centennial HS), junior Kayleen Hicks (Chico, Calif./Chico HS) and newcomer Rachel Dekar (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School).

Hicks broke two of those three meet records while competing in the sprint individual medley pentathlon, clocking a 29.93 in the 50 breaststroke and a personal record of 1:00.68 in the 100 individual medley. She also registered a personal best of 30.25 in the 50 backstroke.

Dekar posted a meet record time of 1:05.89 in the 100 breaststroke en route to her second-place showing in the middle IM pentathlon.

Krall took second in the freestyle pentathlon after setting personal bests of 12.02, 26.03 and 1:56.97 in the 25, 50 and 200 freestyle events.

Elsewhere in the pool, junior Francesca Cyphers recorded a career best time of 1:07.88 in the 100 back, and sophomore Martha Murphy (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) notched a pair of personal records in both the 50 back (31.86) and 50 breast (37.53).

Despite all the success experienced by the swimmers, Saturday's biggest winner was junior Tiffany Martz (Folsom, Calif./Folsom HS) who won the diving portion of the pentathlon.

Last year's PCSC Champion off the 1-meter springboard, Martz was joined in the top five by teammates Kristin Scribner (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS), Jenna Tenwolde (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) and Leslie Wade (Atlanta, Ga./Lovette School).

Pepperdine returns to action in less than two weeks when it plays host to the Malibu Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 24. Events start at 9 a.m.
