LOS ANGELES, Calif. - A pair of three-run home runs by Nathan Johnson (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo HS) and Miles Silverstein (Bell Canyon, Calif./Calabasas HS) paced the Waves in their 14-6 win over Loyola Marymount Sunday afternoon at George C. Page Stadium.

Johnson connected in the second inning for his team-leading eighth home run of the season, giving the Waves an early 6-0 lead, and then Silverstein's round-tripper to left-center field pushed the score to 11-1 in the fifth.

Silverstein has homered twice this season and has 20 RBI. Johnson, however, leads the club with 33 runs driven in.

Pepperdine has won its last four series against its arch rivals, dating back to 2007, and improved to 20-26 overall and 8-7 vs. the West Coast Conference following today's victory. LMU meanwhile dropped to 21-26 and 4-11.

This weekend's series also marked the end of the inaugural PCH Challenge between the two schools, which Pepperdine won 14.5 to 8.5. The Waves clinched the all-sport series late last month after their men's golf team won at the WCC Championships.

Pepperdine jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to some hustle plays. Sophomore Brian Humphries (El Cajon, Calif./Granite Hills HS) led off with an infield single to short in extending his career-best hitting streak to 11 games, and after Johnson walked with one out, senior Ryan Heroy (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley HS) beat out a potential inning-ending 5-4-3 double play ball.

Heroy's hustle kept the inning alive for junior Floyd Given (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate HS) who was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and then freshman Joe Sever (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine College Preparatory) capitalized on the situation with a two-run single to left.

Sever finished the game 3-for-5 with the two RBI in pushing his season and career-best hitting streak to 14 games.

Following their two big home run innings, the Waves added three more insurance runs between the seventh and eighth frames. Humphries doubled in freshman Zachary Vincej (Saugus, Calif./Saugus HS) in the seventh for his third hit of the game, which was followed by senior Colin Rooney's (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) RBI groundout that plated sophomore Ryan Van Amburg (Campbell, Calif./St. Francis HS).

In the eighth, Van Amburg drove in his third run on a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Heroy.

The tremendous run support made it a rather easy day at the office for senior starter Robert Dickmann (Woodland Hills, Calif./Notre Dame HS) who improved to 7-4 on the season. Dickmann worked seven innings complete with four strikeouts and made only one real mistake, surrendering a three-run home run to Matt Koch with one in the fifth that made it an 11-4 game.

Dickmann's seven victories are a career high. He won six games as a sophomore in 2007.

Freshman Alex Najera (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Canyon HS) pitched the final two innings, giving up one run on two hits in the ninth and struck out two.

Pepperdine returns to action Tuesday night at Cal Poly for a 6 p.m. game. The Mustangs topped the Waves, 12-4, in the team's first meeting earlier this season in February.
