SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The #22 Pepperdine men's tennis team will play for its record 41st West Coast Conference championship after defeating San Francisco, 4-0, in the WCC semifinals on Sunday.
The top-seeded Waves (15-10) will take on second-seeded Santa Clara in Sunday's final at 11:30 a.m. at USD's Barnes Tennis Center. Pepperdine has won more than conference titles than any other school and has captured the last 19 in a row.
After winning the doubles point, Pepperdine's two ranked singles players, senior Bassam Beidas (Cairo, Egypt) and freshman Sebastian Fanselow (Essen, Germany) were victorious in straight sets, as was freshman Mousheg Hovhannisyan (North Hollywood, Calif.). Beidas, who plays at the #1 position, is ranked #30, while Hovhannisyan is #65 and competes in the #2 slot.
The Waves have now won nine of their last 10 matches. The Dons (12-9) were the #4 seed.
