IRVINE, Calif. - Freshmen Megan Doeding and Sean King, and juniors Bridgette Walker and Chelsea Wishard all registered personal bests Saturday at UC Irvine's Spring Break Collegiate Invitational, which included a number of D-I schools including BYU, Cornell, Loyola Marymount and UC Riverside.
"This was a good meet for the men especially Sean," head coach Robert Radnoti said. "He has doubled every meet this season but next week he will focus on only the 800 and hopefully break our school record and then go after the 1500 the following week. He is running very well as a freshman."
King (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill HS) posted times of 1:56.11 (800m) and 4:00.32 (1500m) both of which narrowly missed breaking the program records held by Eric Magana (1:55.84) and Chris Ogle (3:59.24) since 2008.
Wishard (Lawai, Hawai'i/Kauai HS) raced today as a workout but still registered a personal best of 4:42.65 in the 1500m. Walker (Oak Harbor, Wash./Oak Harbor HS) ran her fastest ever 100m with a mark of 12.68, and Doeding (La Crescenta, Calif./Crescenta Valley HS) PR'd in the 5000m with a time of 18:28.43.
Pepperdine's men's and women's track and field teams return to action again next Saturday and Sunday with a trip to the Cal-Nevada Invitational hosted by UCLA.
