Men's Tennis Wins at Michigan, 5-2

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Pepperdine's Bassam Beidas won a battle of nationally ranked competitors at #1 singles and the #13 Waves' men's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory at #36 Michigan on Sunday.

Beidas (Cairo, Egypt), who is #90 in the January ITA rankings, beat #73 Evan King in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6.

After dropping the doubles point, the Waves (3-2) needed to be successful in singles and they were, winning five of six bouts against the Wolverines (2-3).

Sophomore Alex Llompart (Carolina, Puerto Rico) and freshman Finn Tearney (Wellington, New Zealand) both won their singles matches at #3 and #5, respectively, and teamed up to win at #2 doubles.

The Waves have two home matches upcoming, as they host Fresno State on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. and USC on Friday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m.
