Men's Tennis Drops 4-2 Match at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Freshmen Sebastian Fanselow and Finn Tearney won in singles, but the #16 Pepperdine men's tennis team lost at #28 Alabama, 4-2, on Friday afternoon.

Senior Bassam Beidas (Cairo, Egypt) and sophomore Alex Llompart (Carolina, Puerto Rico) won their match at #1 doubles for the Waves. The Crimson Tide captured the doubles point with wins at #2 and #3, however.

Fanselow (Essen, Germany) won in straight sets at #3 singles, as did Tearney (Wellington, New Zealand) at #5 singles to tie the match at 2-2. But Alabama clinched the match with three-set victories at the #2 and #6 positions, and the final singles contest was left unfinished.

Pepperdine Coach Adam Steinberg was the head coach at Alabama from 1998-2002.

The Waves (4-4) continue their cross-country trip at #19 Florida State on Saturday (Feb. 27).
