LONG BEACH, Calif. - Sophomore women's diver Leslie Wade was Pepperdine's highest finisher Thursday during the second day of competition at the PCSC Championships, placing third off the 1-meter springboard with 230.60 points.

 

Wade (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) along with freshman Jenna Tenwolde (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) and junior Tiffany Martz (Folsom, Calif./Folsom HS) combined for 91 team points for Pepperdine, capturing the third through fifth places, respectively. Tenwolde totaled 230.10 points and Martz earned 226.40 points.

The Waves finished day two at Long Beach's Belmont Olympic pool with 234 points - lifting their overall total to 439 points - but their efforts couldn't prevent them from slipping into third place behind defending champion UC San Diego (553) and Loyola Marymount (477).

Pepperdine swimmers claimed four top-16 showings through three individual events and placed fourth in the 200 freestyle relay. The Waves have placed fourth in all three relays held thus far at this year's championships, including Wednesday night's 200 medley and 800 free.

Sophomore Madison Krall (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Centennial HS) posted a fifth-place and season best time of 5:05.80 in the 500 freestyle and freshman Shannon Adkins (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS) was 12th in this event with a mark of 5:10.79.

In the 200 individual medley, freshman Rachel Dekar (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School) recorded a seventh-place time of 2:09.38, which doubled as a lifetime best, and junior Kayleen Hicks (Chico, Calif./Chico HS) led all Pepperdine swimmers in the 50 free with her 15th-place time of 24.45.

Hicks later swam anchor for the 200 free relay, which recorded a season best time of 1:37.74. She was joined in this race by senior Ali Chester (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly HS), freshman Sarah Burris (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox HS) and Dekar.

The PCSC Championships continue into Friday with the 200 freestyle, 400 individual medley and 100 breaststroke listed among the six events scheduled to compete.
