MALIBU, Calif. - Sophomore forward Michelle Manning scored her third goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the Pepperdine women's soccer team lost at San Diego, 2-1, on Friday night in West Coast Conference action.

Manning (Calabasas, Calif./Agoura HS) scored in the 22nd minute off a cross from junior forward Laura Cole (Whittier, Calif./La Habra HS) to allow Pepperdine (8-6-5, 1-3-2) to tie the game at 1-1, but the Toreros (10-7-2, 3-3-0) scored the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute.

USD had slight edges of 10-8 in shots and 8-6 in corner kicks. The Waves put a total of six shots on goal but only Manning's made it past the goalkeeper.

Entering the game, the Waves had a perfect record of 8-0 when scoring a first-half goal but saw that streak come to an end. Pepperdine's defense had gone 14 straight games without allowing more than one goal until tonight.

Pepperdine concludes the regular season at home next Saturday (Nov. 6) against #10 Santa Clara at 1 p.m.
