MALIBU, Calif. - The #17 Pepperdine men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a 4-0 victory over #37 South Florida on Saturday morning at UCLA.
The Waves (2-0) will take on either UCLA or Hawaii on Sunday at 10 a.m. The winner will advance to the ITA Indoor National Championships on Feb. 12-15 in Charlottesville, Va.
Senior Bassam Beidas (Cairo, Egypt) was a double winner at #1 doubles and #1 singles, as was freshman Sebastian Fanselow (Essen, Germany) at #3 doubles and #4 singles. Several matches were left unfinished once the doubles point was won and the match was clinched. The Waves won the first three singles matches in straight sets, including Beidas' 6-3, 6-4 victory over Jamal Adderley, who was ranked 64th nationally.
