MALIBU, Calif. - Sarah Burris, Kayleen Hicks and Madison Krall each won two individual events and Pepperdine defeated Cal State Northridge for the third time this season, 154-108, Saturday afternoon at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. The Waves have won six straight meetings against the Matadors dating back to the 2006-07 season.
Pepperdine was victorious in half the 14 events and swept the top-three places in the 50, 100 and 500 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke. The Waves also finished first and second in the 1000 free, and claimed the top spots in the 200 breast and 400 free relay.
Northridge led the meet in its early stages after winning four of the first five events, but Pepperdine came back strong at the first break after receiving consecutive victories from Burris (Virginia Beach, Va.Cox HS) in both sprint freestyle races. Burris won the 50 free in 24.93 and touched first in the 100 free in 55.28.
