Aspelin Wins Silver Medal at Olympics

Federer has been the world’s number one player in singles for years, but redeemed himself in doubles after an early exit in the singles competition.
Aspelin becomes only the second Pepperdine tennis player to ever medal at the Olympics. Brad Gilbert won a bronze medal in the men’s singles competition in 1988. Other Pepperdine tennis players who participated in the Olympics are Carlos DiLaura (1984), Kelly Jones (1984), Martin Laurendeau (1988), Glenn Michibata (1988), Agustin Moreno (1988) and Andrew Sznajder (1992).
Aspelin is currently the world’s #9-ranked doubles player. He was part of a duo that won the 2007 U.S. Open. He earned All-American honors at Pepperdine in each of his four years (1994-97).
