Pepperdine to Host NCAA Tennis 1st/2nd Rounds

MALIBU, Calif.Â The NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Subcommittee announced that Pepperdine University will be one of sixteen firstÂand second-round sites for the NCAA Division I Men’s Championships, to be held Saturday and Sunday, May10-11.

“Of course I’m excited that we’re hosting the first two rounds on our home courts,” said Pepperdine Head Coach Adam Steinberg. “We have a tough draw. Our first match is against Hawaii, which had a great conference win over Boise State and Fresno State. We’ll have to be ready to play.”

The No. 13 ranked Waves earned an automatic qualification by winning the WCC league Championship on April 20. It was the 18th straight conference title for the Pepperdine men’s tennis team.

On Saturday, May 10, the Waves face Hawaii at 11 a.m. and Stanford will meet UC Santa Barbara at 2 p.m. The winners of the first round will advance to the second round, on Sunday May 10, at 1 p.m. The winner of the second round will travel to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the team championships, to be held May 16-20.

The regional will be held at The Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Tickets are $5.00 and $3.00 with a student ID per day.
