SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine’s senior men’s tennis player No. 9 ITA ranked Andre Begemann, was selected by the WCC as the 2008 Men’s Player of the Year. This is the second consecutive year Begemann has received the honor.
Coach Adam Steinberg was tabbed Co-Coach of The Year along with Saint Mary’s Head Coach, Michael Wayman. The No. 14 ranked Waves just captured their 18th consecutive WCC Championship title on April 20th.
Begemann (Blomberg, Germany) and No. 32 ranked Bassam Beidas (Cairo, Egypt) were voted to the All-WCC First Team in singles. Teammates Omar Altman (Cairo, Egypt), Mahmoud Kamel (Paris, France) and James Lemke (Melbourne, Australia) were selected to the All-WCC Second Team in singles.
The doubles team of Begemann and Altmann made the All-WCC First Team.
