Men's Tennis Sweeps UC Irvine, 7-0

MALIBU, Calif. Â With six wins over UC Irvine (4-5) and one match to go, the Pepperdine men’s tennis team (3-5), gathered together to cheer teammate Rickus de Villiers to victory in the No. 6 singles match. De Villiers prevailed to help the Waves defeat the Anteaters, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.

Pepperdine was coming off a strong showing last weekend (March 2-6) at the 119th Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament, where Andre Begemann (Blomberg, Germany) and Omar Altmann (Cairo, Egypt) defeated teammates James Lemke (Melbourne, Australia) and Bassam Beidas (Cairo, Egypt) in the finals to take home the tournament title.

Next up for the Waves is a trip to the Northwest where they will meet University of Washington on Friday at 3 p.m. and Boise State, Sunday at 12 p.m.
