MALIBU, Calif. – The No. 13 Pepperdine men’s tennis team will host No. 47 Harvard, Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Ralphs—Straus Tennis Center.
The Waves (10-6) are on a seven-match winning streak and have moved from No. 43 in the nation to No. 13 in the last three weeks, according to ITA rankings.
The overall record for the Waves and Harvard is 11-2, with Pepperdine leading the series. Aswan Kumar, Daryn Young and Sasha Emakov lead the Crimson.
Pepperdine’s No. 2 singles player Bassam Beidas (Cairo, Egypt), holds the No. 20 ranking among Division I collegiate athletes and has defeated his last ten opponents. No. 1 singles player Andre Begemann (Blomberg, Germany) is ranked No. 10 in the nation and has a 9-1 record for the last ten singles matches.
The No. 1 doubles team of Begemann and Omar Altamann (Cairo/ Egypt) are ranked No. 23 in the country, maintaining a seven-match winning streak. The pair defeated No. 22 Ryan Rowe/ Billy Heiser (Illinois) on March 19.
