Ogle Wins Steeplechase at Northridge Event

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. Â Chris Ogle won the steeplechase event, highlighting several top 10 finishes by the Pepperdine track teams at the Northridge Invitational on Saturday.

Ogle (Tucson, Ariz./Mountain View HS/Arizona) defeated five other competitors in the men’s steeplechase. His time of 9:32.80 beat the runner-up from Cornell by less than a second.

The women got top 10 finishes from Courtney Young (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS), who was fourth in the 5,000 meters (18:08.25); Brie Carroll (Pusan, South Korea/Pusan American HS), sixth in the 3,000 meters (10:41.20); Chelsea Wishard (Lawai, Hawaii/Kauai HS), eighth in the 1,500 meters (4:48.93); Alex Evans (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla HS), eighth in the discus (25.55m) and Paige Knudsen (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS), ninth in the 3,000 meters (11:10.11).

Wishard broke her own school record set earlier this season in the 1,500 meters.

The Waves also set school records in the women’s 4x200 (1:49.95) and 4x400 (4:11.67).

On the men’s side, Conrad Wozniak (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge HS) was sixth in the 5,000 meters (15:29.42), Isaiah White (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks HS) was eighth in the 5,000 meters (15:29.42) and David Williams (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) was ninth in the 800 meters (1:56.61).

“We had several outstanding performances,” Pepperdine Coach Robert Radnoti said. “This was our first relatively big meet as many schools were entered. Our young team handled the pressure well. As we prepare for next week’s meet at USC, our team continues to mature and learns to race more competitively. Our coaching staff is excited about our progress.”
