Pepperdine Downed by Ohio State, 5-2

COLUMBUS, OHIO Â The No. 16 Pepperdine men’s tennis team fell to No. 3 Ohio State, 5-2, Sunday morning, at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center, in Columbus, Ohio.

The Waves won two out of six of the singles matches. No. 22 Andre Begemann (Blomberg, Germany) defeated No. 60 Steven Moneke in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 and Mahmoud Kamel (Paris, France) won the No. 5 singles match over No. 95 Drew Eberly, 6-4, 7-6.

In doubles, Omar Altmann (Cairo, Egypt) and Begemann were the lone winners for Pepperdine, by defeating No. 29 Eberly and Justin Kronauge, 8-5.

Next up for the Waves is a home match on Thurs. (Feb. 7) at 1 p.m., when they meet Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, in Malibu, Calif.
