LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Pepperdine swimming and diving team continued competition at the PCSC Championships in Long Beach on Thursday, with five Waves setting new personal bests.
Highlighting the days competition was Loriann Mark (Malibu, Calif./Malibu HS), who swam a personal best in the 500-yard freestyle which also placed her in third place in the school history books with a time of 5:02.92. Mark finished the event in fourth place.
The Waves 200 freestyle relay team of Mark, Dani Kimmel (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake HS), Kayleen Hicks (Chico, Calif./Chico HS) and Haley Wilson (Carpenteria, Calif./Santa Barbara HS) finished in fourth place, while Ali McLeod (Austin, Texas/Cedar Park HS) was the next highest individual finisher with a seventh-place showing in the 200 I.M. (2:11.61).
Additionally, Kimmel set a new personal best in the 50 freestyle (24.26), Rachel Williams (Las Vegas, Nev./Advanced Technologies Academy) also set a personal best in the same event with a time of 26.76, and Franny Cyphers (Lake Oswego, Ore./St. Mary’s Academy)set a new personal mark in the 200 I.M. (2.11.61), while Ali Chester (Riverside, Calif./Boston University/Riverside Poly HS) did the same with a time of 2:14.74.
The Waves diving team finished the 3-meter event with the most points, as Amanda Pond finished in third place with 363.25 points to lead the team.
The PCSC Championships continue Friday and Saturday.
