Swimmers Open PCSC Championship Meet

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Two Pepperdine relay teams captured fourth-place finishes during the first day of action at the Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Conference Championships on Wednesday.

In the 200 medley relay, contested by 27 teams, the group of Alison McLeod, Danielle Kimmel, Francesca Cyphers and Haley Wilson had a time of 1:50.08. Only teams from Loyola Marymount, UC San Diego and Northern Colorado finished ahead of the Waves.

In the 800 freestyle relay, with 19 teams participating, the quartet of Loriann Mark, Brianna Blanchard, Haley Wilson and Michelle Fadley clocked a time of 7:53.27, and again, only teams from UC San Diego, Loyola Marymount and Northern Colorado placed better.

Kimmel's split in the 200 medley relay (50-yard breaststroke) set a personal best, while Mark's split in the 800 freestyle relay also set a personal best.

In the diving competition, Pepperdine divers finished with 98 points as Tiffany Martz led the Waves' quintet of divers in the 3-meter event with a fourth place finish.

The meet runs through Saturday at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.
