Waves to Face Cal State Northridge

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team will continue its spring season with its first dual meet of the year on Saturday against Cal State Northridge at 12 p.m. in Northridge, Calif.

 

The Waves opened the spring season last weekend at the UC Irvine Invitational and placed fourth in the Sprint Invitational, Sixth in the Distance Invitational and second in the Diving Invitational events held on Saturday. Ali McLeod (Austin, Texas/Cedar Park HS) was Pepperdine’s top finisher in the meet, as she placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.91. McLeod also finished in fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly at 59.31, while Loriann Mark (Malibu, Calif./Malibu HS) notched five top 10 finishes, placing fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.80), seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.88) ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (54.73) sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.67) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.67), which was good for the third best time in school history.

 

The Matadors are one of only two teams the Waves will face in a dual meet this season, as the Waves will also face Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Jan. 26 in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
