Women's Track Fairs Well in First Home Meet

MALIBU, Calif. - Chelsey York, Maria Llacuna, Tiara Dole and the 4x100M relay team all turned in first-place finishes Saturday afternoon at the West Coast Track Challenge. The meet - comprised of only schools from the West Coast Conference - was the first meet hosted by Pepperdine since starting the women's track program just one year ago.
York, Katie Stjernholm and Dole gave Pepperdine a 1-2-3 finish in the 100M dash. York's winning time of :13.12 edged out Sthernholm's :13.14 and Dole's :13.47.
Dole took first in the 200M with a winning time of :27.08, while Allie Becker and Kelly Sayre recorded clocked :29.74 and :30.71 finishes, respectively.
Llacuna and Becker took the top two finishes in the 100M-hurdles in times of :16.62 and :17.23, respectively.
All three relay teams hold strong showings in the meet with the 4x100M team posting the fastest finishing time of :51.22, while the 4x400 and Distance Medley Relay teams both has second-place clockings of 4:17.52 and 12:58.12, respectively.
Other notable finishes included Taylor Gamble's third-place finish in the 400M, Lauren Carfioli's third-place finish in the 800M and Brieanna Carroll and Courtney Young's 4-5 finish in the 1500M.
Pepperdine will return to the track Sat., March 3 when it runs at the UCLA Invitational in Los Angeles.
