Lemke vs. Altmann in SoCal Intercollegiate Finals Sunday

LOS ANGELES, Calif. Â It’s Pepperdine vs. Pepperdine Sunday, in the finals of the 51st Southern California Intercollegiate Tournament as James Lemke plays Omar Altmann for the title.

 Altman (Cairo, Egypt) defeated No. 1 seed Harel Srugo (UCLA) 7-6, 6-4, in the semifinals on Saturday. No. 3 seed Lemke (Melbourne, Australia) defeated Nick Meister (UCLA) 6-3, 7-6, to advance to the finals along with Altmann. The Waves are scheduled to play at 12 p.m. at the Los Angeles Tennis Club.

 “It’s awesome to see two Waves in the finals. That was our goal and we achieved it,” said head coach Adam Steinberg “I’m happy for Omar and obviously for James as well. Omar has had a lot of success in doubles, but not as much in singles. He’s always had the capability and it’s great to see him reach this level. James has been playing great tennis and it’s going to be a good match.”

At the ITA Indoor National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, Andre Begemann (Cairo, Egypt) was defeated in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket by Dominic Inglot (Virginia) 7-6 (3), 6-4.
