LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team finished the second day of competition in eighth place at the UC Irvine/ Nike Cup at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif. on Saturday.
The Waves placed eighth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:47.66, a season best time for the team of Ali McLeod (Austin, Texas), Dani Kimmel (San Diego, Calif./Eastlake HS), Franny Cyphers (Lake Oswego, Ore./St. Mary’s Academy) and Haley Wilson (Carpenteria, Calif./Santa Barbara HS). The mark was also good for the fifth fastest time in school history.
McLeod place fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.43, a season best, while Cyphers placed 11th with a season-best time of 57.62.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Kimmel swam a season best 1:05.78, which was the fourth fastest time in Pepperdine history, while Kayleen Hicks (Chico, Calif./Chico HS) swam a season best 1:06.63.
In the 100-yard backstroke, McLeod swam a 57.83 in pre-lims, the fifth fastest time in Pepperdine history, and placed seventh in the finals with a 57.94. Michelle Fadley (Irvine, Calif./Northwood HS) also set a person best in the 400-yard I.M, with a time of 4:41.42, Brianna Blanchard (Agoura, Calif./La Reina HS) swam a personal best in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:55.94, while Kady Skora (San Clemente, Calif./Santa Clemente HS) swam a 1:58.44 in the 200-yard freestyle, good for a season best time.
