TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mahmoud Kamel and the doubles team of Omar Altman / Alex Moreno took second place for the Pepperdine men’s tennis team at the Crimson Tide Fall Championships, hosted by Alabama, on Sunday. James Lemke won the consolation round of the singles competition.
Kamel ((Paris, France) was defeated by Yoann Re (Va. Tech.) 6-3, 6-3 in the finals Sunday morning. In the doubles finals, Altman / Moreno suffered a loss to Johnson / Miskovic 8-3. Winning the finals in the consolation round was Lemke, (Melbourne, Australia) who defeated Chris Racz (Tenn.) 6-2, 6-1.
Next up for the Waves is the ITA Indoor Championship in Columbus, Ohio. Andre Begmann (Blomberg, Germany) earned an automatic qualifying berth by winning the singles division of the ITA Regional Tournament last Monday (Oct. 22), at UCLA. Bassan Beidas (Cairo, Egypt) qualified for the tournament by winning the consolation round of the ITA Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Oct. 7).
