TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Two Pepperdine men’s single players and one doubles team advanced to the finals of the Crimson Tide Fall Championships, Saturday. Sophomore Mahmoud Kamel defeated Houssam Yassine (Ala.) 6-3, 7-6 (4), in the semifinals and sophomore James Lemke qualified for the finals in the consolation bracket after defeating Matt Thibaadeau (Ala.) 6-1, 6-4. The doubles team of Altman / Moreno defeated Myneni / Walston (Ala.) 9-7 to advance the finals.
Kamel (Paris, France), defeated Ryan Smith (Ga.Tech) 6-3, 6-4, in the quarterfinals. Lemke (Melbourne, Australia) advanced to the semifinals after Billy Mertz (Ala.) withdrew during the quarterfinals due to an injury. Kamel will play Yoann Re (Va. Tech) in the finals Sunday and Lemke will face Chris Racz (Tenn.).
Freshman Alex Moreno (Queretaro, Mexico) was defeated by Scott Robinson (Jacksonville) in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-4. Victor Sanaki Papi (AUM) defeated junior Omar Altman (Cairo, Egypt) 6-3, 6-4.
