Carfioli Paces Pepperdine at Long Beach Invite

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's Lauren Carfioli turned in the Wave's top finishes in both the 400-meter dash and 800m run last weekend at the Long Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State University. Her time in the 400 establishes a school record in the event.
Freshman Brie Carroll (Beaverton, Ore.) turned in the top placing as she posted a sixth-place time of 18:55.77 in the 5000m.
Carfioli's time of 2:34.17 in the 800m placed her three spots ahead of teammate Courtney Smith (Mansfield, Texas) who turned in a 2:40.90 clocking in the two-lap race.
Senior Tina Jeon (Carrollton, Texas) turned in a time of 15.53 in the 100m and a time of 1:14.61 in the 400m. Here time in the 400 was just off the pace set by Carfioli who finished the race in 1:08.84.
Pepperdine will wrap up its inaugural track season next weekend in San Diego when it competes in the UC San Diego Invite.
