Track Continues to Improve at APU Meet of Champions

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's Crystal Brown, Brieanna Carroll and Ashley Burt all posted personal records over the weekend as the women's track team competed at the Azusa Pacific University Meet of Champions on April 8.
Brown (Long Beach, Calif.) turned in a 14.26 clocking in the 100-meter dash to set a new personal best and school record for the young program. Tina Jeon (Carrollton, Texas) recorded a 15.80 time in the 100m and posted a 32.15 time in the 200m.
Lauren Carfioli (Cota de Casa, Calif.) turned in the team's best finish in the 800m as her time of 2:31.14 was the 17th-fastest time of the day. Kyla Maher (Portsmount, R.I.) was not far off the pace, finishing in 2:32.97. Carroll (Beaverton, Ore.) and Courtney Smith (Mansfield, Texas) placed 25th and 26th, respectively, with times of 2:36.93 and 2:38.27, while Julia Ann Frudden (Iowa City, Iowa) and Marissa Kerby (Riverside, Calif.) finished in 2:39.47 and 2:49.45, respectively.
Carroll was Pepperdine's top finisher in the 1,500m after a 13th-place clocking of 4:58.06. Maher finished in 5:05.82 for 18th and Kerby and Burt (Boise, Idaho) finished the just under four-lap race in 5:37.22 and 5:46.62, respectively.
The Waves will return to the track Friday when they travel to Long Beach State to compete at the Long Beach Invite.
